Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on more exponents. To begin the session, I reviewed the exponent rules with her that we had learned two weeks ago. She had forgotten some of the rules, so we re-wrote them and repeated them until she understood the rules and why the rules are what they are. Tonight we went through at least 25 different problems in which she was able to apply the exponent rules. We also learned how to solve an advanced problem using multiple exponent rules at one time. I left her with homework problems that utilize multiple exponent rules to solve the problem."
"Reviewed for a test on polynomials. Went over practice problems and did examples that the student had questions about. Also discussed how the calculator will/can be used to simplify the process and help find possible roots."
"Today we worked on volume of spheres, prisms and cylinders. The student did very well with his homework, then we did some practice puzzles on the same topics. We worked a little on solving systems of equations using substitution toward the end of the session. His attitude was awesome, as usual."
"We studied for the student's upcoming quiz. She knows the process; she has is it down perfectly. I reminded her to check her work. She can catch her errors if she goes back over things. Overall, great session!"
"The student and I did her review for an exam she has tomorrow covering hyperbolas, multiplying and simplifying polynomials, adding and subtracting polynomials, and finding inverses of hyperbolas. She seemed like she's made major leaps in factoring in the last week and was really doing great today. I think that if she goes over the review again on her own tonight, she should do well on the exam tomorrow."
"I went through the basic concepts of trigonometry and then the student did her homework. She is very bright but lacks self confidence. She was very receptive towards the material taught. I have shown her how to look at the same thing in a different manner and conceptualize the problem."
