Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Our last session before the exam had us cleaning up any problem areas in a very controlled and stress-free environment. We worked extensively with the logic behind the SAT, test preparation, and how to go about mentally and physically readying yourself for the exam. We also covered lots of SAT writing and the principles behind the persuasive paper that the Essay section entails! That was the area the student felt that he needed the most practice in, and so we rehearsed how to build sentences and paragraphs from the ground up using various SAT topics in practice exams. He's gotten a lot better at coming up with examples to use for his persuasive essay, too! We then went over more math problems in a cursory way - if he could do them, he'd let me know, and problems that required more time or were hard to understand were identified so that we could work over them. The biggest thing that is arguably giving him the most trouble is vocabulary. I think he'll do just fine, and I told him that whatever the outcome of his exam on Saturday, as long as he can walk away from that test knowing he tried his absolute best, left it all out on the exam, and could be completely satisfied with himself, we've already made significant strides! I think he has the potential to double his SAT score, so long as he prepares adequately tonight and tomorrow morning!"
"The student and I finished up his test prep on Thursday. He's coming along well, though he's obviously had a busy week. He just needs to rest up a bit before the test on Saturday, and I'm sure he'll do well. Best of luck to you!"
"The student and I continued to discuss strategies for critical reading and writing. We worked on some sentence completions and writing multiple choice questions, and then moved back to math review."
