Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was the student's last session before she takes the June SAT. As such, we focused on an overall review of all of the strategies. First, we went over some problems from the math test that she had partially completed. She has come a long way in math and generally gets almost all of the first half of the sections and a good number of the later questions correct. Great job. The student still resists the idea of annotating passages, however. So, we did another long passage with her first reading with her pencil using active reading and then using process of elimination to solve the questions. She got almost all of the answers correct in this passage. We also did a quick review of sentence completions and the key idea of coming up with your own answer first and then using process of elimination. Finally, we talked a bit about using your ear for grammar. If it sounds wrong, it probably is wrong. Trust your ear. It's only when nothing sounds wrong that you need to refer to the list of error types we have reviewed."
"The student and I worked through the rest of the practice test I gave him and went over some mistakes he had made while working on his own."
"Did a practice section out of the student's SAT book. She is taking the test this Saturday, so we also reviewed some test taking strategies and tips."
