Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over preparation for her exam she will be taking tomorrow. We covered vapor pressure, phase diagrams, heating curves, and applications. We also went over physical properties like boiling points and effect of intermolecular forces. We spoke about importance of sleep for test prep and writing out formulas and information before exam to prevent test anxiety."
"The student had a lot of homework to work on this week so we jumped right into working through problems together. Her lessons are focusing on electrochemistry, specifically looking for cell potential and being able to understand in depth a voltaic and galvanic cell. Several questions were diagrams that asked to label each part of the cell (cathode, anode, electron flow, cation/ anion flow from salt bridge, etc.) and for the most part she seemed to be able to keep straight all the different terms (she is more used to using reduction/ oxidation language than cathode/ anode). We are going to continue with another session tomorrow because we only were able to get through half of the problems. The group tomorrow will begin to involve entropy into cell potential (non-spontaneous reactions)."
"We covered reproduction, development and the nervous system. We discussed the menstrual cycle, asexual and sexual reproduction, the stages of fertilization and gametogenesis, germ layers, nerve synapses and potentials and parts of neurons. The student has a good grasp of the material and needed a little help with terminology and working through ideas. We will not meet next week as she has a test and does not expect new material."
