Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished preparing for her final. We practiced with logarithms, exponents, functions, and systems of equations. In doing so, we worked on graphing and solving equations. By the end of the session, she felt confident in her ability to perform well on the exam."
"We covered how to factor polynomials and we also worked on a chemistry worksheet. The student was eager to learn the material. I taught him new ways of doing problems and I reminded him that practice makes a difference. The student improved his exam score."
"The student and I spent the session mostly reviewing factoring, specifically reviewing the factoring and simplification of rational expressions with fractional expressions being divided by another fractional expression. We also went over finding the inverse of a function, completing the square, finding the center and radius for a given equation, and simplifying exponential expressions. The last topic we reviewed involved solving inequalities involving rational functions. I again reviewed the table method and also showed him a method for solving/ checking solution intervals using a number line."
"We worked on simplifying rational functions. This was another section that the student had difficulty with earlier in the year and is a review for her upcoming final. We worked through the example problems and through many of the book problems to help build her confidence in this area. She picked out problems that were difficult for her before to make sure that she'd learned the skill since."
"We worked mostly on binary distributions. We covered geometric vs binomial distributions and the Central Limit Theorem. We finished with 2 x 2 tables and how to determine if variables are independent."
"This week the student learned circumference, diameter and radius. She completed her homework and then worked through several problems I created, where she needed to solve for different components. We repeated the same formulas to build her procedural fluency. We ended by working on a few word problems since that's an ongoing area where she wants to build confidence."
