"The boys and I primarily went over some SAT math prep style questions. We took a few quizzes, and they got progressively better scores as we continued. They have taken their final for the semester, and the plan is to pick up next semester and hit the ground running."
"We continued to prepare for the student's exam, which is coming up on Monday. We looked at position-velocity-acceleration graphs, as well as infinite limits. I anticipate that he will perform very well on his exam."
"The student had missed school so we spent this session going over the class notes and work problems that she received from her teacher. We reviewed synthetic division, long division with polynomials, and started to review for her test. She learns the new concepts very quickly and is very good at remembering past concepts and how to apply them. I have suggested that she make a note sheet that has the name of the technique and a quick reminder of what to do. Sometimes she doesn't know what the teacher wants her to do with a certain problem because of the name of the technique, not because she doesn't know how to do the technique. She will work on assigned homework from her missed class next session prior to her class."
"We reviewed all the material that we covered on quadratic functions. The student knows all of the material. She is confident in the math itself. She sometimes gets nervous, and as result, she makes minor errors (mostly sign errors) on exams and quizzes. I left her with more ways to avoid errors, but ultimately she must practice on her own."
"In this session, we spent most of the time working on a graded homework assignment the student's teacher assigned. He got most of them right on the first time, and the three questions that he didn't were only because of simple mistakes. Once we finished that, we work on solving for x on another worksheet he had. He worked diligently throughout the session and took his time."
"The student and I covered various topics from logs, expanding logs, solving logs, and graphing polynomials which included zeros, multiplicity, factoring, and then trig identities where we used the double angle identity. Her final is today. I will follow up in a few weeks to find out what happened."
