Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today's lesson was focused on beginning to review for the final exam. We worked today on the past tenses in French (passé compose and the imparfait) and their uses. To supplement the lesson we used the website which offers excellent exercises and this was a great help for the student. It was not easy but he understood the concept more after completing the exercises. I appreciate the student's enthusiasm, effort and diligence towards the lessons."
"We reviewed for the final exam. He drilled all the vocabulary of the four units and reviewed the verbs in the present and past tense. He must go back over the tests on each unit to prepare for the final exam. Verbs will play the major role in the exam and the student is aware of this."
"After the usual verb review, we went over the homework, on which the student had done impressively well both in conjugating the subjunctive tense and using it in the correct context. Following this, we worked through a few more exercises together on regular subjunctive, irregular subjunctive, and when to use the subjunctive. She definitely seemed to have a good handle on conjugating the subjunctive. After that, we moved on to a review of the imperfect past tense, which she had no trouble with. We then did some pronunciation practice using the vocabulary from Chapter 2 of her textbook, followed by a few minutes of reading practice from Le Petit Prince."
"The student and I prepared for the upcoming school year. We reviewed basic skills such as pronouns and conjugating regular "-er," "-ir," and "-re" verbs. He was given a PowerPoint in which he took additional notes, and I provided him a textbook and practice exercises that will measure his comprehension."
"Our session was fantastic, as always! We reviewed our French from before and shared wonderful little stories through French. She is doing so great and picking up the French pronunciation beautifully! Our every lesson is a joy."
"The student and I reviewed her few questions on the homework from last session -- verbs in the present indicative and irregular spellings. We talked about her weekend plans, revisiting the "futur proche"; we discussed the results of some further research I had done since last session into specific medical terms for an injury; and we reviewed medical terminology from the vocabulary textbook, and she practiced using some of the terms on these lists to describe to a supposed colleague the issues and condition of an incoming trauma patient. We agreed to explore additional good resources for medical terminology online, and I will look up some other terms and words she had questions about, and make use of these at our next session in two days' time."
