Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered redox reactions today, which is what she is going over in her class. She was assigned only 5 homework problems, because they had just started the topic and had not gone too far in the chapter. Specifically we worked on balancing half reactions in acids/bases, determining the oxidation states of atoms and the basics of voltaic cells. We covered what an inert cathode was and why. We covered what an activity series means in terms of oxidation/reduction."
"The student received her score on her take home exam: 98%, which is excellent! Today we reviewed that key critical information she needs to master all the materials: understanding the macromolecules and evolution. Above all other biological concepts, it is absolutely necessary that she masters today's notes that were emailed to her. We also went over the circulatory system and immunity. She is progressing well, but she still has to slow down with her reading and thought processes. Great attitude. The next exam is Friday."
"We went over stoichiometry problems. Lots of practice with combustion reactions, finding the limiting reagent, calculating the excess reagent, calculating the yield of product and balancing equations. He will continue to practice these kinds of problems."
"Reviewed for upcoming chemistry test over acid/base chemistry. Focused on relationship between [H], [OH], pH, and pOH. Also discussed Ka, Kb, Kw and titration curves, as well as the difference between strong and weak acids and bases."
"We went over some acid base problems and solving for unknown concentration when titrations acids and bases. He had a work sheet from class we went over. In addition we did some pH and pOh calculation problems."
"We reviewed for her final exam. We covered everything that was not included in the current marking period thoroughly. I believe she is well prepared for the final!"
