Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked from the student's math book on decimals, fractions, multiplication, and division. I explained the fractions and decimals from a more visual standpoint and explained the logic of how they work (rather than memorized rules for how to work with them) to help him better understand the part over whole concept."
"For the first 30 minutes, the student read from the book "Something Wickedly Weird." For the following 30 minutes, he wrote a summary of what he read and then we discussed the elements of the story."
"Today I assisted the student with his science homework, during which we reviewed the concepts of conduction, insulation, reflection, refraction, and vibration. To illustrate refraction, I asked him to fill a glass cup halfway with water and then put a straw in it. Additionally, we went over multiplication problems."
"The student is a great student. We covered some very basic concepts to build confidence and comfort with the stoichiometry. We decided that she would arrange to email me PDFs of upcoming homework or assignments she would like covered."
"The student now has a frame by which to structure her next writing assignment and some guidelines in her first attempt at revising. The student is to write her current events with the new frame. She should continue to practice her identification of different parts of speech and trust her ability to use process of elimination based on what she knows. Her confidence is growing in this area. Upcoming sessions will include grammar, comprehension, and writing with the text."
"We started World Cultures: North and South America and Europe. The student completed two chapters and started on the third chapter. We covered, "Thinking Like a Geographer", "The Earth in Space", "Forces Shaping the Earth", "Land Forms and Water Resources", "Climate Regions: Human-Environment Interactions" and "World Populations". The student completed a check test for Lesson 1."
