Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I played a new game with the students - we used a deck of I Spy cards to play Snap. I added the requirement of naming the object that matches before taking the piles of cards. This introduced some new vocabulary and reinforced some that we've covered before. Before we started I gave them a list of new vocabulary with pronunciation guides. I would say the word, and they were to write down the translation and also underline the most emphasized syllable. After they finished, I drew their attention to the patterns, and explained the pronunciation rule (emphasis on 2nd to last syllable) and how the accent mark is used for exceptions to the rule. I had also made some cards to play Memory, with pictures and words that needed to be matched. Both of them were focused and engaged today."
"The student and I had our first session on Saturday. We discussed what he is looking to learn, and reviewed and practiced the conjugation of -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs in the present tense. We also wrote down vocabulary words for him to study and practice conjugating during the week."
"During this class, the student and I spoke about the recent trip he did to South East Asia. He showed me several pictures while I corrected some of the few errors in pronunciation. Furthermore, the student and I talked about Vietnam and Thailand."
