Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered kinematic equations, period and frequency, motion graphs, relative motion and adding force vectors. The student is willing to learn and wants to do well. I explained how to think of the situation, and how to try to visualize the scenario in order to know how to solve."
"With an upcoming Thermodynamics test, the student and I reviewed all relevant material. This review session focused more on conceptual topics than the usual "plug in values" formulaic type of problem session. She seems to prefer problems with numbers, tangible things she can point to and solve from a concrete standpoint."
"In today's session, the student and I went over the principles of optics in preparation for his test this week. We began by discussing lens diagrams, and determining the position and relative size of an image seen through a lens. This included analysis of both concave and convex lenses and qualitative properties of each. We continued by going over an earlier quiz he had taken, examining mistakes made in a question regarding a mirror diagram. Finally, we practiced using Snell's Law to analyze the refraction of light through different mediums by working through an example similar to one that would be on his test with multiple layers of mediums (water, glass, diamond, air)."
