Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For the first fifteen minutes we discussed the tutoring semantics, discussed a schedule, and I gave them a little background information about myself. Afterwards we discussed the student's work and study habits as well as his past school experience. Specifically we talked about what he has learned in general in Chemistry, Math, and English courses over the past few years. Next we looked at his current Algebra and Chemistry courses and discussed how the work has been so far. The student did great on his first Algebra homework, and he is quite comfortable with the material so far as much of it is review. We jumped right into the Chemistry work and talked about what his teacher has discussed, including lab work, lab safety, measurement, units, and significant figures. Specifically we worked on a few scientific notation problems and counting of significant figures. The student seems eager to work hard and I am excited to continue tutoring him."
"The student and I covered a few topics from the first three weeks of her chemistry course, including physical versus chemical changes, significant figure rules, and converting units. She took an online quiz after I left and scored 100% on all of the topics that she and I covered together."
"We covered chapter 4 for her quiz. We discussed the difference between the atomic number and atomic mass. We did a lot of calculations on the abundance and average mass of isotopes. We touched on the differences between a period and a column on the periodic table of elements. I explained that elements in the same column have similar characteristics."
