Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed about the relative lowering in vapor pressure and its relation to molecular mass of the solute. We also discussed about the Gibbs free energy and how it relates to the spontaneity of the reaction. We discussed about 2nd law and entropy."
"Today the student and I discussed mostly chemistry. Her new unit is on buffer systems. We reviewed what she had done and practiced finding explanations on the internet that made sense to her. When she is not working with a tutor, this will be a valuable skill. Besides clarifying the material and working on practice problems, I had her start a study sheet. On it, she recorded important and difficult concepts in a way that made sense to her. Specifically, she wrote down the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation and explained what happened when you add a strong acid or strong base to a buffer solution. We also spent some time discussing upcoming physics material (rotational motion). In addition, in the future we will try to create an exam study schedule, as the student will be taking the test again."
"We finished topic 4 and covered the beginning of topic 5, which is energetics. In Topic 4, we first went over some of the practice questions that the student asked to review, and then proceeded to finish bonding. He seems to be doing really well in all of the practice questions that I have sent him so far and understands most of these concepts deeply!"
