Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed proportions, rates, and ratios today. We finished all her homework and even did some additional problems. The student is doing an excellent job with this chapter."
"Test review on area, surface area and unit conversion. Concept review on spatial analysis and related topics."
"The student and I studied for the assessment by using online software. There were a variety of sample problems including probability, ratio, and re-writing algebraic expressions. We also talked about good test taking strategies, including "slash the trash," "good guessing," and "checking answers." I told him to eat a good breakfast and get lots of sleep the night before, and to keep taking practice tests."
"The student asked about several concepts about the first week of chemistry, such as density and change of phases. She wanted help with algebra 2. The topics covered in algebra 2 were summer homework she had, which were mostly algebraic operations. She was very receptive towards the topics we went over."
"Today we went back and worked through several problems in the different sections that will be covered on the exam to help the student become more comfortable plugging different equations into the various formulas. We practiced finding the volumes of various solids created by taking cross-sectional areas and rotating around an axis, the arclength of a curve, and the surface area of a solid of revolution. He is comfortable using the disk and washer methods for calculating the volume of solids of revolution, and he is doing better at using the shell method and the cross-sectional area methods. He is also doing well using the arclength and surface area formulas. Lastly, we quickly went over the formula for finding the hydrostatic force or fluid force of an object under pressure."
"I covered application of quadratic equations and regression with the student. She did very well on determining which equation to use on a graphing calculator. She was very positive to the material."
