Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"On Wednesday, the student and I worked on algebra. We worked on problems using exponents. We talked about putting them in standard form and how to expand them. He was very quick to grasp the concept. He remembered a lot of what his teacher had taught him as soon as I did a brief review. He is particularly good at mental math. However, I encouraged to him to write out the problems most of the time. Overall, he seemed very confident with the material and had no problem grasping it. He said he had no new biology concepts to go over for this week."
"We worked on simplifying expressions using the exponential rules. Worked on recognizing when to add, subtract, or multiply the exponents and also how to deal with negative exponents. We also looked at scientific notation. The session went very well. I noticed her confidence increased as the session progressed. We will meet again on Sunday."
"Worked with the student on reviewing complex algebra problems, including consecutive integer and area of rectangles using substitution."
"Today, the student and I went over his old quizzes and started going over his exam review packet to get ready for an upcoming exam. We went over solving for 2 variables given 2 equations. We also went over domain and range and how to write out equations given a word problem. He did very well on everything and worked problems quicker than times before."
"The student and I strictly worked on multiplication problems. We worked on multiples of 1, 2, and 3. The plan is to "perfect" her multiplication and division so that math should be much easier from here on out. She mostly struggled with the multiples of 8, 9, and sometimes 7. We did plenty of practice together to the point of her being able to do problems within less than 2 seconds (I gave her a timed test of 3 minutes for 100 multiplication problems). She knows the answers to all the problems. The improvement I have seen in her today is miles away from the very first session I ever had with her."
"I went over worksheet corrections with the student on circumference, properties of circles, and finding radian and arc measures. I also assisted her with adding more formulas and concepts to her notecard. I encouraged her to continue to take her time while solving each equation to avoid any minor mistakes."
