Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed latest drafts, created essay-writing mindmaps, drafted new introduction paragraphs, discussed general writing techniques, and assigned work for next session."
"We worked through an essay that the student was writing about the character Sydney Carton in, "A Tale of Two Cities.""
"During this session the student and I first discussed the organization that we put together during our first meeting. He has been keeping a list of tasks that he can see every time he looks at the home screen of his tablet. He says that he has not forgotten about or failed to complete an assignment since he started this. He did delete everything in his calendar, however, replacing it with only the visible memo. I told him we would try this for a week and see how it is helping him. I asked him to do a few things before our next session. In our discussions, I've noticed that his reading comprehension is not where he wants it to be. I taught him a technique for practicing paraphrasing each piece of writing as he goes, which he has agreed to try for a week to see if it helps him on reading quizzes. I feel that this should help, since it seems to be more of an issue with initial attention rather than true comprehension. I also asked him to keep a log of all challenges that he faces at school. He seems happy to have our sessions, but does not bring questions or topics. I hope that this will help us focus on specific challenges in the coming weeks. I definitely feel that he will have little trouble correcting his writing issues as soon as he finds a routine that works."
