Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We completed book 6. The student has a much better understanding of reactions. He is doing quite well."
"The student and I went over her geometry homework. She was having trouble computing areas for complicated shapes and remembering their equations. Going forward, if she can remember the area equations for simple shapes and know how to break down more complicated shapes, she will be in good shape. We also worked on solving some equations."
"The student and I met to prepare for a quiz he had later that afternoon. We did problems in his book which had to do with bonding theories."
"The student and I coverage chapter 50: Sensory and Motor Mech. We focused on the cellular and biochemical basis of sensation, construction, and integration. Recovered the five main types of censoring runs and their functions in a variety of organisms. We focused specifically on the senses of sight, hearing, and touch."
"We covered various solubility problems. She had many questions for me, and by the end of the session, she grasped the material pretty well. She has her own practice problems to go over."
"In our first session, we covered alkene chemistry-- both synthesis and mechanistic subjects. We covered electron withdrawing groups and donating groups and how they affect reactivity of nucleophiles and electrophiles. I suggested using a tri-fold paper system for studying reactions. I also suggested a way to study mechanisms by breaking them down and practicing. The student seemed to follow the concepts we went over and had a good base layer of knowledge to build from. She was receptive to the study strategies."
