Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student one - transformations then math review (multi-digit multiplication, subtraction, fraction + and -). Student two - unit conversions, spelling homework."
"Today the student and I worked on a paragraph he had to write about Dali. I was pleased to see how neat his handwriting was. We also studied spelling and his states and capitals."
"The student and I worked extensively with different types of pronouns today (subject, object, possessive). We also worked on multiplication with double digits for math."
"The student and I began chapter 10 and the topic of sequences and series. She had missed class for the introduction of this topic, so we carefully covered the appropriate material - definitions of sequences and series, infinite vs. finite, arithmetic vs. geometric, writing an equation for a sequence, finding the common difference, using the equation to identify elements, finding the means, partial sums, and series summation notation. To reinforce the concepts, she completed practice problems from a homework assignment. Once she was able to begin working on the problems, the concepts from the chapter became clear to her."
"The student went over the results of her midterm exam, and we discussed what areas she wanted to work on. We decided to focus on correlation matrices and how to read them. We went over how to determine the strength and direction of correlations as well as what the null hypothesis for a correlation is and how to tell if it is significant. For our next, session we will focus on variance and scatter plots."
"We went over z and t tests as well as some psychology for the student's upcoming 2 exams. We also talked about rounding in statistics. We went over a broad range of topics in psychology. She has more problems to do before we meet tomorrow."
