Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Focused primarily on reading analysis. We went through some of the questions which we had covered in the past, and reviewed how to approach the problems. We discussed looking for the points against each argument, and choosing that which then seemed most difficult to argue against. We then went through another reading section, allowing her to work through questions, testing her approach to the problems (finding which questions need to be kept in mind while reading and which can be returned to), and challenging/questioning choices to ensure she had sound reasoning for decisions. After a 25 question reading section, I scaled the score up to a full assessment section. We then went into a review of the probability and choice problems, as well as covering some geometry and basic trigonometry. This included an extremely advanced sample problem which I created that required more advanced applications of both probability and (basic) combinatorics to set up the solution. For geometry and trigonometry, we went over some basic geometry and reviewed some of the triangle relations, such as 30-60-90 triangles and their relation to equilateral triangles. Also mentioned sine/cosine/tangent functions and their relation between angles and edges."
"The student and I practiced the assessment math problems. I began breaking down fractional exponents as well as complex geometrical identities."
"The student and I went over some English sections and then a few math sections. She seems to have improved, and we will work more on vocabulary in our next session."
