"We worked problems using the distance formula and equation of a circle. We worked on prime factorization and derived the distance formula for three-space. Good session."
"Student and I went over the two worksheets he had that covered angle congruencies and similar triangles. We discussed some of the rules of the similar triangles, along with how to properly denote angles that are embedded in other angles"
"We covered Geometry, which included the Pythagorean Theorem, 30-6-90 and 45-45-90 triangles, using the Pythagorean Theorem with 3D solids and trigonometry. We also did some comprehensive practice problems from the book. Student needs to go over the theory once more, but other than that he seems to have a good understanding of all the concepts."
"I spent this session going further over proofs with the student. We went over practice quizzes and tests, where he showed a good understanding of the principles used for the reasoning on the proofs. I also helped him understand the meanings of inverse, converse, and contrapositive, as well as the laws of detachment and syllogism. By the end, he was able to answer all of the questions on a practice test by himself with only one minor error, so we spent about 15 minutes looking ahead at slightly more advanced proofs."
"The student still needs to slow down on proofs. He gets puzzled, and then, when he gets it, he wants to rush through it and skip steps because he understands, but then since he hasn't written out every step, he can't see where his reasoning went off track. We will continue to work on this, taking the proofs slowly, until he is completely comfortable with every step."
"The student wanted help with the triangle congruence theorems in preparation for her upcoming quiz. We went through a multitude of practice problems where I had her identify which information she had available in each triangle and what theorem could then be proved to use it. That seemed to help her a lot and got the theorems a little more secure in her head."
