Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was the student's last tutoring session before she takes the GRE. She seemed very well-prepared and motivated to take the test. We reviewed a few higher level concepts in math, including charts for age and distance/rate problems. We also covered the "man-hours" concept. She worked through several problems, and was able to achieve a strong understanding of the material."
"The student and I went over what she wants to improve most on for the GRE. She needs to score around the 85th percentile for math. She understands most of the concepts well, and we will be working on applying tricks and quicker methods so that she can answer the questions with more ease."
"Today we finished reviewing the student's practice test, and she did very well on the math. We will review the last five questions of the verbal section next time. We also began going over basic math concepts, and will finish working through Chapter 6 in the workbook next time. I then assigned her to take one of the practice tests and get started on Chapter 7 (Algebra) if she has time."
"Reviewed basic number theory, order of operations, associative/distributive property, laws of exponents, equations in 1 variable and solving them, systems of equations and their solutions and inequalities. Student did well to remember her math from the past and picked up concepts very quickly. She will do a GRE practice test before our next session to evaluate any areas of weakness."
"Today we continued talking about the argument essay. We focused mostly on the language and structure of the introductory paragraph, and started making lists of possible turns of phrases to use that would help with writing a good introduction quickly."
"In this session, the student and I went over the full practice GRE results and practice sections she completed for homework. We identified some strategies she will use in future practice sets, and went through some specific concepts."
