Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I read in his new book and reviewed some punctuation and possessive rules. He is reading so much more quickly and is able to summarize his ideas more quickly in planned sentences."
"I helped the student draft a responses to the course reflection essays for her documentary photography course. We also began reviewing for the end-of-course assessment in her philosophy course."
"Reviewed and edited the student's essay on Minecraft. Reassigned for improvements. Also worked on a descriptive paragraph of a picture in the library where we meet."
"Today, we went over the student's English homework, writing sentences and a two-paragraph essay based on the passage she was given. In addition, we did two sentence worksheets based on the book we are reading together."
"The student showed a strong interest and passion for improving his legal research and writing skills and we discussed strategy for how to pursue his goals. We went through the components of a legal brief and dissected a case opinion so that he can see what the important parts are and how to read a case."
"We covered the basic structure of an essay (introduction, body, conclusion), what each part was supposed to do, and some basic pointers for writing each part. We worked on an outline for an essay the student has to write together, and then started working on the introductory paragraph. She seemed pretty engaged, and I anticipate it will get better as we do more concrete work on her essay. In addition to reading regularly, she is supposed to finish writing the first draft of her introduction."
