Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We studied for his quizzes on Pre-calculus and Chemistry. For pre-calculus, we reviewed the section that we discussed last week, as it is the focus of his exam. Then, we did additional problems to assure that he understands the material. For chemistry, we reviewed inter-molecular forces along with energy regarding temperature changes and phase changes."
"Went over vectors from a previous test. I first reviewed all the questions and showed her what key words to look for and how to interpret them. I made sure she knew what was being asked of her before I had her attempt answering. Once I felt confident she knew what she was doing, she began answering the problems. We also went over new material (domain and range of functions/determining extrema). I broke down the material so that she could understand and confidently answer the questions I presented to her."
"Started new sections involving limits and solving for them. Went through the section addressing issues or points of confusion. From there did a few practice problems with the student."
"Today, we covered sections of the student's textbook on trig functions and applications of these functions from basic Sin, Cos and Tan to Identities (i.e. Pythagorean identities, etc.) and identifying exact values using sin(a + b), etc."
"We reviewed binomial expansion using both Pascal's Triangle and the Binomial Expansion Theorem as well as arithmetic and geometric sequences. We practiced writing out a binomial expansion for various powers as well as finding the coefficients of specific terms in the polynomial. We also talked about the difference between a permutation and a combination. The student is doing well finding a combination using the 'n choose r' formula and is getting better at expanding a binomial that has numbers with the variables. Since her class has only just started going over sequences, we looked at how to find the general expression for the n-th term and how it compares to the recursive form for the n-th term for both arithmetic and geometric sequences."
"We reviewed an assignment over combinatorics and probability. We also discussed factorials and their use in probability."
