Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I reviewed her homework of adding three-digit numbers with regroup. We talked about starting with the ones place and working towards the hundreds place. We discussed why it was important to show the regrouping in order to ensure that you will get the correct answer. Her homework also worked on a few word problems that used the same strategy."
"The student didn't have homework today because she had been doing mock assessment tests this week. I used that time as an opportunity to practice multiple skills. We worked on finding common denominators with fractions and subsequently solving addition and subtraction problems. We worked on changing fractions to decimals, comparing fractions with unlike denominators, simplifying fractions, dividing, and rounding."
"Today we went over slope fields and solving differential equations. She was having the most trouble matching slope fields to DEs, but she was able to understand it by the end of the session. She seemed to have a good handle on the rest of the material."
"Covered solving problems using order of operations. Some problems had decimal numbers also. The student struggled with decimal division a little bit in the beginning but after we practiced some problems together she felt confident about decimal operations too. She is a quick learner."
"Went over a few worksheets. One was a quiz from last week, on algebra word problems. We focused on reading the word problems and turning them into equations and then solving them. He did a pretty good job overall. Also went over a worksheet on polynomial equations, adding, subtracting, and multiplying them and recognizing whether an equation is polynomial or not. Has a very good base in math for his age."
"The student took her Chapter 4 test and got a 98 on the test! She was very excited about the grade. During our session this week, she and I reviewed for her review test. She practiced problems from various sections of Chapters 1 - 4 from her textbook. She also completed problems from a homework worksheet as part of her review. She feels pretty confident and is ready to do well on her exam. She looks forward to earning another high grade!"
