"This was my first session with the student, so we mainly just talked about what to expect and did a practice test."
"For this lesson, we spent some time completing the math achievement questions that we didn't finish during the last session. Both girls do a pretty good job on this section of the test. From watching the progress, it seems that the first student tends to make more small mistakes by not completely reading the question, for example, than the second student does. After completing the math questions, we spent some time on the synonyms, sentences, and other word games that I prepared for them that focused on the words from the past two weeks that they had difficulty with. The sentence completion was their strongest section and the synonyms and definition type of question was much harder. They both wanted to practice more synonyms during this lesson so we worked through a couple of the self-tests in their workbooks. We made a plan to work more on strategies for selecting the correct answer if you don't know the vocabulary the day of the test."
"The student and I fine-tuned a broad range of exam strategies, especially for the word problems, quantitative comparisons, and sentence completions. He has made great strides in reading carefully, and his grasp of the fundamental math concepts needed for the test has improved markedly since the first lesson."
