Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a very heavy testing load this week. We began by going over her math homework sheet and study guide. We talked about the importance of slowing down and circling all of the important numbers and key words. We made a study web, motions and rhymes to help her retain information. We were able to review her social studies information one time."
"The student and I covered more rotational kinematics. There's some issues with the way in which his teacher grades exams and provides notes, so we're trying to work around that. I suggested he review some crucial formulas before tomorrows makeup exam."
"The student and I spent the session preparing for her exam today. We spent the last session covering the topics; equilibrium, LeChatelier's Principles, reactivity, stoichiometry, and redox reactions. I identified some areas that the student was struggling with, and sent her practice problems to increase her familiarity and reinforce the concepts. We went over last minute questions, worked some calculation problems together, and discussed equilibrium to a large extent. I left her with a practiced problem that reinforced many of the concepts that the exam covers, and e-mailed her the solution after our meeting. She emailed me back and stated that she got the right answers to all parts and I think that the student is confident going into her exam today."
"The student needed help with basic Physics concepts. We went over the relationship of speed, acceleration, time, and distance. She was struggling with understanding a few problems that they went over in class. She has a solid understanding of science concepts, so it was fairly easy to go over her concerns. She has a very positive attitude towards learning and receiving feedback. I told her I would write down some notes for her and submit them as soon as I could so she could be ready for her test this Friday. It was a great session since it gave me an idea of where she is at and what I should look for to help her in the upcoming sessions."
"We covered gas laws and stoichiometry in today's session. His teacher provided him with practice problems that reviews what they will be learning in class. We went over strategies to work through the problems, such as labeling units, conversions, and writing out all the information. The student is a great student and wants to understand the material."
"We continued overall review of concepts in preparation for her AP exam. We started by working on several practice free response questions from a recent review questions. Concepts were varied, covering topics such as electrochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, and equilibrium. I encouraged her to continue multiple choice questions from her AP exam book. She states she currently has an 86% (B) in the class currently. She is working towards an A."
