"We went over some algebra problems for the student's upcoming assessment exam. She understood the material very well and felt very good about it."
"We specifically went over recursive and explicit arithmetic and geometric sequences as well as arithmetic and geometric series. The student was able to put into her own words the difficulty she had in understanding the concepts or how series were related to sequences. Towards the end, I was able to explain to her a few exam-taking strategies concerning series as well as how to approach solving them in a logical way."
"Today we went over the review packet for the student's final exam. The topics that we were able to cover were systems of equations, solving for one unknown variable, adding and subtracting fractions, and simplifying square roots. He needed help with topics that dealt with unknown variables such as solving systems of equations, so I plan to put more emphasis on that topic for next time."
"We covered solving linear systems, solving quadratic equations, and discussing the specific areas the student needs help on before her test. She is struggling mostly with parabolic and exponential forms and determining how to graph them. She also needs help with completing the square. She seemed willing to go over material and work through problems. I included ways to check her answers such as plugging the solutions back into the problem to ensure she hadn't made any mistakes. I also pointed out how to double-check herself with the quadratic equation before getting too far into it."
"The student wrapped up another project dealing with surface area. We covered all assigned questions and sections. She seemed confident about how we came to the solutions."
"The student took his ALEKS assessment and earned an A+, which boosted his math grade. The student started at 421 topics. Today, we worked on Ratio Word Problems, Calculating Unit Rates, Similar Polygons, Comparing Unit Rates, Similar Right Triangles, Proportion Word Problems, Unit Price Word Problems, Converting Between Compound Units, Indirect Measurements, Multiplying Exponents, Evaluating Expressions to Remove Exponents, Adding and Subtracting Scientific Notation, Square Roots of Perfect Squares with Signs, Converting Repeating Decimals to Fractions, and Estimating Scientific Notation. The student completed 16 topics (as well as completing the Ratios, Proportions, and Measurements slice) for a new total of 437 complete. The student did well overall with the concepts and was well focused today."
