"Today was spent going over an acid base titration lab and involved analysis of acetic acid. It was a nice workout in multistep solution stoichiometry. The student needs this multistep calculation practice and has been improving her skills in this area."
"I helped the student prepare for an upcoming Physics test by going over problems involving the topic of electricity. We also went over Algebra 2 homework problems involving using various methods to solve quadratic equations. By the end of the session, he was able to solve the problems correctly."
"Today, we reviewed for the student's test on summarizing all concepts related to forces and free body diagrams. At the beginning of the session, he mentioned that he was still struggling with concepts, including inclined planes, centripetal acceleration, and tension. We worked through practice problems related to these concepts first until he felt more confident in solving them on his own. I made a few suggestions to help him work through the problems, including making sure his diagrams were completely drawn first before beginning a problem and then making sure he started with an equation and then plugged in information to prevent any confusion. By the end of the session, he said he felt better and had more confidence in solving these problems."
"Tonight, we covered the introduction to integration for calculus. The student recently had a quiz on the topic and was unsure about it. I then helped him understand this topic, and we did some practice problems from his textbook. Once his confusion was cleared up, he was doing the problems perfectly. He now understands what integrals are and how to apply them in the ways that he has learned in class so far."
"In this session we covered conservative forces, potential energy, and friction in preparation for the student's exam on Friday. Time was split between direct instruction and working practice problems. Coming into this session, she had a good grasp of the concepts she will be tested on and she gained confidence in her application of that knowledge throughout the session."
