Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished reviewing for the student's final exam by reviewing the second half of the review packet. This included problems involving probability, reading and predicting changes in graphs, and solving summation problems."
"We went over rational equations. The student seemed very confident and sure about this, and was getting the correct answers. She said that she took a test yesterday, but had not received a grade. She seems very confident that she did well on it though."
"In our session, the student and I reviewed for his final. His teacher supplied him with a review packet which he had completed most of before I arrived. He had a few questions pertaining to factoring problems, graphing circles and their equations, and simplifying expressions. We reviewed each of these in depth and I gave him additional practice materials to further re-enforce the newly reviewed concepts. The student felt confident for his final! It is a privilege tutoring him!"
"We covered some of her physics project, as well as some calculus on her placement exam. Although her theory on the physics project was correct, she made a lot of calculation errors in the body. I told her to go through it and make sure she corrected her mistakes. As for the Calculus, she got all the answers correct, but could use some work on speed. Positive and willing to work. Review AP Calculus practice exams in order to build speed for the placement exam."
"The student and I worked on the material for tomorrow's retest by going over her original test. When looking through the test, it was evident that the student really does know the material; she just made minor mistakes. We corrected those mistakes, and I explained to her how to recognize a system of equations with one, zero, or infinite solutions without solving or graphing at all. After going over the test, I had the student try some other examples, which she worked through completely on her own. She seems confident, as do I, of her abilities with this material! Today, the student struggled with how to move variables from one side of the equation to the other, but it was very minor. The student was definitely on-task today, even though I know that she took another test today. I left her with a few links to worksheets to help her study for the retest tomorrow. She is definitely ready for tomorrow's retest!"
"In the session we finished the student's study guide and then went over more problems from the book. We focused on word problems and solving systems of equations. We also went over problems that required the use of the quadratic formula. She worked quickly and answered nearly all of the questions correctly. She mainly struggled with solving systems of equations and answering word problems that involve systems of equations, so we will be working on this in the next session."
