Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to review practice questions that the student had worked on and reviewed a few different concepts, including plugging in the answers on questions with numeric answer choices and geometry- specifically special right triangles."
"My first tutoring session with the student went well. As she expressed in our introductory call, she has taken the test before, and she would like help on all of the sections, particularly the Quantitative Reasoning section. Since the students copy of the to the test 2nd edition has not arrived yet, we worked through Quantitative and Text Completion questions on the website. The student answered the majority of the questions correctly, though she did have difficulty with some quantitative questions involving number properties and percentages. She also had trouble with the Text Completion questions, but she understood why the correct answers were the best ones. For our next tutoring session, the student will read Chapter 1 and Chapter 5 in the guide. She will also practice vocabulary with her flash cards."
"The student and I went through a practice quantitative section. I emphasized paying attention to detail and double checking answers to make sure they make sense. We then went through half of a verbal reasoning section."
"The student and I met for a session of GRE tutoring. We continued to practice algebra skills. This included inequalities, absolute values, and factoring. She picked up on many of these concepts once I explained them to her. We also did some verbal practice."
"The student and I finished reviewing arithmetic concepts like mean, median, and mode along with standard deviation. We did example problems of each concept in quantitative comparison and multiple choice form. We then reviewed angles and triangles, including the Pythagorean theorem and special right triangles."
"The student spent a fair amount of time reviewing Verbal grammar rules. Today, she wanted to review inequalities. A fair number of the questions were DS inequalities with multiple variables. We focused on strategic plugging in to find conflict in yes/no DS questions."
