Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight, we continued with adjectives. I used picture illustrations to ask questions, and to describe things and people, using correct gender of nouns and adjectives. Then I introduced Student 1 and Student 2 to dialogue #4 - "Where are you from". Today my goal was to speak as much Russian as possible, to help them get used to Russian, spoken at conversational speed. It was challenging, but I was very proud to see how hard they work, and though it's still quite a challenge, they catch on to new expressions a lot quicker. Excellent session overall!"
"The student had to complete an assignment for German class. He had to convert sentences from the polite form to the informal form. We worked on this together and completed the task. I also reviewed conversation with him and had him translate a paragraph from German to English. His conversational German is improving, his translation is improving, and his grade in German class is also improving."
"The children learned more vocabulary pertaining to the weather and the time of the year with the help of handouts. We also started talking about what we plan to do for the holidays."
"We covered learning and teaching styles, went through the assigned homework, and practice vocabulary using an online resource."
"In this first lesson, the student and I got to know each other. It was great to see him make an effort to communicate with me in German straight away. For the most part, we reviewed vocabulary so that I could gain a better understanding of his proficiency level in German. We covered colors, parts of the body, a few animals, a few items around the house and some common food items. I left a small German picture dictionary with the student to continue to work with (we already covered the first three pages)."
"The student and I returned to the article on Deutsche Welle about cooking schools, and read, translated, and discussed sentence structures. We ended with pages 28-30 in the conversation book, looking at Wo, Wohin, Woher, and Wann. We will meet at the usual time next Saturday."
