Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent over an hour reviewing for his test the next day. I asked the student what we needed to cover and he handed me a small scrap of paper with 6 main topics to focus on for the test. We covered each of those using "extra problems" in the book. We spent extra time making sure the student understood that the order of the letters used to describe each angle were very important."
"The student and I went through her assigned homework. The problems involved variations of the triangle, so we solved for angles and perimeters using angle theorems and algebra. We also worked through a series of word problems and planned to finish the homework on Sunday."
"The student's teacher was absent for the past few days so she didn't have much new material to talk about. We went ahead and reviewed the tests she had before and examined the mistakes she made. Her mistakes were similar to each other so went through them relatively quickly. I could see that she understood the material. I summarized the strategy in solving those problems for her."
"The student and I worked on her homework and studied for her quiz tomorrow. We focused on writing proofs regarding congruent triangles. She was able to complete them quickly and accurately almost every time! Well done!!"
"The student has a test tomorrow so we reviewed her current chapter and determined her weaknesses -- overlapping triangles and altitudes/medians/bisectors. The first half of the session was spend on general review and then we worked exclusively on these problems for the second half of the session. At the end of the session she felt confident that she would ace the test and had concrete things to review before tomorrow."
"We covered properties of quadrilaterals. I think this lesson went well. The student seems more comfortable with this topic."
