Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked through her homework assignment. Topics covered include continued work with permutations, combinations, factorials, and their applications in probability."
"Computed potential profit, mean, median, standard deviation, and vacancy rates under the "simple method" and "weighted average method.""
"We did more test review and worked on his reference card. We briefly reviewed probabilities, worked on expected value, and solidified permutations- and combinations-related concepts. Along the way, I guided him to a problem solving framework to apply. There was initially some struggling over expected value problems, but he got more comfortable as we talked through problems. He also showed himself to be newly adept and comfortable applying probability trees to his work with probability-related problems, which was very good progress. Going forward, I will work more with him to help him become more comfortable applying and trusting formulae. He currently tries to think himself through problems without the benefit of formulae and sometimes confuses himself with overly complex approaches when a formula-based approach will do. Deconstructing formulae and explaining them piece by piece helped him trust the permutation and combination formulae tonight, and I will take a similar approach in the future."
"The student reported an A on her last math test! We moved through the current section quickly and worked ahead in the book to build a foundation for future lessons."
"The student has a test on Thursday. In preparation, we practiced tree diagrams for conditional probability problems."
"The student and I went over sections 14.1-14.3 in his Honors Algebra 2 and Trig textbook. We briefly reviewed trigonometric functions and half-angle formulas."
