Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"At our last session, the student and I continued to review her first diagnostic test, identifying the concepts that were difficult for her and working through a series of practice problems. We began with problems relating to straightforward algebra, especially quantitative reasoning questions with variables in columns a and b. She's becoming much more comfortable with simplifying algebraic expressions; now, our next step is to practice utilizing these skills to answer word problems. Much of the time, she completes a word problem in her head. In order to avoid the minor errors that almost always accompany this method, I'm encouraging her to be systematic about it and write everything down. For the second half of the session, we discussed and practiced slope-intercept form (slope, graphing functions, coordinate planes, etc.). All in all, wonderful work!"
"The student and I continued working on the English and Writing sections of the ISEE. First we went over a practice essay she had written over the previous week. After going over the essay, we reviewed reading comprehension, followed by vocabulary review. For Monday, she will take a full, timed practice test for us to go over."
"First half of session was spent doing a practice test for the math section. The other half was spent going over the test and reviewing chapters."
