Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was devoted to the preterite and imperfect tenses specifically. I gave the student a fill-in the blank story where the given verbs had to be conjugated into either of these tenses, depending on the context. We slowly worked through most of this story, and the rest I left with her as extra practice to try and finish over her spring break. In order to break up the story, we spent some time practicing these tenses with an educational board game."
"Today the student and I started reviewing for what will be his final exam in late May. We covered grammatical topics from the first two chapters of his textbook, the imperfect of regular verbs, and Spanish commands. In doing so, he completed the fill in the blank activities and then had conversations in Spanish to practice the particular grammatical form. In the following weeks, we will continue to review subsequent chapters."
"During this session we worked on Chapter 15 of the student's online homework. This homework consisted of vocabulary and verb conjugation exercises. We watched a video and answered comprehension questions such as; true/false and multiple choice questions. We also listened to a couple of audio files and answered comprehension questions such as matching statements to a vocabulary word. I also helped him with a short essay. This essay included vocabulary words in the chapter (technology) and the conditional tense. He came up with good topic ideas and asked questions when he did not know how to translate a word or a sentence. I corrected a few grammatical mistakes, but he was able to conjugate verbs correctly for the most part. We finished this assignment by the end of the session."
