Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a very productive session, beginning with a review of relative pronouns. We went over their uses and meanings and did several exercises to use them in context, which she did a great job on. We then reviewed the conditional and future tenses, and I quizzed her on irregular forms and using the conjugations in context."
"This was my first session with the student and I felt that it went very well. We were able to cover material that was troubling him in class. By the end of the session, he said that he felt he had a better understanding of the material. He is a very polite and studious young man. He cares about his academics and wants to be successful. He is receiving B grades in French but he is not satisfied and wants to do better. I enjoyed working with him and look forward to future sessions."
"We drilled the past tense using 'etre' and 'avoir'. We looked at old tests and reviewed verb forms. We reviewed vocabulary in preparation for a test. The student's grades are in the 70th percentile. He needs to study the verbs from his first 2 years of French. We will continue to look at old tests in order to improve his grades."
"We studied for her test covering superlatives and comparatives and future simple. We did exercises from her online textbook, including a number of listening exercises. I had the opportunity to see how much she has progressed since this fall--very impressive!"
"Today the student and I worked on his driving project for school in which he had to give instructions on how to get one point to another. I highlighted why he needed to use the imperative and not the infinitive of the verb as it is you are giving a command. His mom said he ended up with a B this marking period which was a wonderful improvement! I left him with a website to help him practice car parts and also some extra phrases to add to his project for some creativity."
"Today we worked on pronunciation, as well as present and past tense. The student asked me to review a paper she wrote for her French class, which I did as well. She then described what she saw in two photographs that I brought, and I then asked her questions about the photos. This all works towards the goal of her upcoming eight-minute conversation in French with her teacher. She is a pleasure to work with!"
