"This session was a continuation of an attempt to write a white paper article about the application of thermodynamics principles to evolutionary biology. A lot of interesting subjects here, and a couple breakthroughs regarding how entropy relates to heat relates to work and the motions of particles in a system."
"The student and I discussed angular momentum and went over some of the old problems. She is performing well on her quizzes. She is doing well on her free body diagrams. We are going to begin preparing her for her exam next week."
"I briefly went over some of the topics that are going to be covered in the next several weeks. In our first session, the topic of focus was motion, including concepts such as: acceleration, displacement, distance, speed and velocity."
"We reviewed for physics and worked on Ohm's law, wave speed/frequency/wavelength problems, and displacement, velocity, and acceleration problems. The student did well with Ohm's law and wave problems, but needed more help with velocity and acceleration problems."
"We went over the student's physics practice test. I ran through each problem and also tried to give general tips for how to approach similar problems. The student seemed to struggled the most with knowing where to start with a problem."
"Today we reviewed for another physics test. This one covered magnetism and magnetic force, oscillations, sound, and vibrations, and lenses. We spent some time on lenses, going over convex and concave mirrors and diverging and converging lenses. The student was understanding things better after a bit, and at the end we looked back through her formula sheet and ensured that she understood how to use them all."
"We covered a couple of the student's homework assignments regarding the relationship between electric and magnetic fields. We also went over RC, LC and RL circuits. The student seems to be doing pretty well in his course and should be well prepared for his final if he continues in this manner."
"The student had both a study guide and practice test for Exam 2 in his physics class. We focused on electrical circuits including Kirchhoff's Laws and reducing parallel/series resistors. The student received a 100 on his last exam and continues to understand material well. No concerns."
"We covered length contraction and time dilation for special relativity, the equivalence principles for general relativity, how to determine the remaining amount of the parent element if given the decay constant, the half-life, and an amount of time."
"We covered units, conversions, Newton's second law, and the relationship between velocity and acceleration. I spent a good deal of time introducing these concepts in a visual and graphical form before having the student solve for problems on her own. I suggested that we discuss vectors and revisit unit conversions next week, so she can practice both of those before our next session."
"Today, we covered the topic of magnetic flux. We first went over the professor's lecture notes about flux, and then we moved on to talk about Lenz's law. After going through the lectures, we went over the formula sheet about magnetic flux that was provided by the professor. We then finalized our tutoring session by doing eight homework problems about EMF and change in flux. As for the take-home assignment, I wanted the student to go over all the questions that we did during our tutoring session."
"The student and I continued reviewing algebra and physics topics; we continued reviewing chapter 3 in physics which covers forces and tension, as well as moving on to chapter 4 which deals with Newton's first law of motion, inertial, weight, mass, the relationships between those three quantities. In algebra, we continued looking at surface area."
