Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"My first GRE tutoring session with the student went well. As she expressed in our introductory call, she would like help on all of the sections of the exam, particularly the Verbal Reasoning section. We started by working through the Verbal Reasoning Practice Questions chapter in the GRE practice book. I explained strategies to answer Text Completion, Sentence Equivalence, and Reading Comprehension questions, including coming up with your own answers and eliminating incorrect answer choices. Then we moved to the Quantitative Reasoning Practice Questions chapter, which she performed well in. For our next tutoring session, she will complete the rest of the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning Practice Questions and the Arithmetic section of the Math Review in the GRE practice book. She will also practice vocabulary by creating definitive sentences using the words on the list she is building."
"The student and I worked through a math diagnostic together. She clearly was able to pick up and remember concepts from the past rather quickly. I assigned a collection of partial sections to verify the results of the diagnosis, and we will be proceeding first through some geometry questions. Her competent abilities with the basics of exponents allow room for some flexibility. I assigned her practice book problems 7.1-20 (arithmetic), 8.1-20 (algebra), 17.1-10 (variable word problems), 26.1-12 (circles), and to begin 11 (fractions / decimals). Likewise, she is to complete the verbal diagnostic, which we started at the end of the session."
"During this session, we focused mostly on the Math section of the GRE and worked on ironing out the areas of difficulty."
