"During this session, we continued working with objects. I want to slowly work toward inheritance and am doing so by showing the student the "annoyances" of duplicated code. This will also allow me to give him some idea about how to use functions more effectively. We worked on expanding his code for shapes, adding logic for units and unit conversions. This was done in a manner that will require him a deal of repetition (which I told him to expect), and I hope to use this occurrence of repetition to show him the effectiveness of appropriate function / inheritance use."
"I helped the student with a current assignment of two programs. They use much of previous material, along with some new concepts. I helped him get the bare bones of the first program, leaving him to finish. I was able to provide direction for the second program, and he will contact me if he has further issues. Possibly a Tuesday appointment."
"The student and I continued working on her program. She has improved both the program and her understanding a great deal since last time. She had things working pretty well, and had also made an almost-correct delete function. We made a few modifications to the PRINT function (which involved identifying a misused array index), and then started work on HELP, which is the program's main utility. She seemed to get what was needed to be done, so I've got high hopes for her work when I see it next."
