Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered parametric and polar coordinates and their uses today. We tried to develop an intuition for how equations will turn out. Lots of exploration, and some practice with conversions between parametric and polar. She was interested and seemed to enjoy it which is great! She did very well on her pima placement exam as well!"
"Reviewed for upcoming trigonometry test. Focused on clarifying characteristics and behavior of basic trig functions and how to use a reference circle to determine values for trig functions at common angles. Also worked on trig identity properties and using them to simplify or prove trig functions."
"The student and I practiced manipulating complex numbers. She struggled the most with finding the roots of an equation, especially polynomials. I broke down the different steps and walked her through sample problems. She said she felt more confident about these types of problems by the end of the session. I left her with a practice quiz from unit 2 to work on over her spring break. I encouraged her to continue practicing before her exam."
"The concepts covered were polar coordinate systems and conversion to rectangular coordinate systems. The student had a strong concept of most of the material. We went over his homework together, and he was doing very well with the material."
"We worked on a hard problem that I assigned. Next, I answered some of the student's questions. Then, we completed Section P.9 on linear inequalities. He will take pre-calculus starting April 1st."
"Today was my first session with this student. I went over the intuition behind derivatives, the power rule, various properties of derivatives, the product rule, and the quotient rule. I had him work through example problems after I demonstrated the rules. We also went reviewed problems from his homework."
