"The student was working on problems of electric forces on charges in various configurations. She is an extremely quick study and picked up the ideas here very quickly. It seems her instructor in class is doing a good job introducing the material, so that she can go even further, faster, in tutoring sessions. Very good work, overall."
"We continued more with pH. Covered how to find pH, pOH, H3O+ and OH- concentrations for strong and weak acids and bases. The student is better with setting up ice tables, but we will do more practice. From what she has told me about their class, they have not yet done titrations and acid-base neutralization/equilibrium problems, so we'll look to work on that next time. I will send an email with a couple practice problems to her mother's email."
"In this session, the student and I went more into depth on some periodic trends, specifically atomic radius. We discussed core charge and how this affects comparing certain elements with other isoelectric species, as well as comparing uncharged species. I clarified a couple points, and he quickly picked up on these and had almost no trouble. I showed him the general trend of atomic radius towards Francium and that the differential among elements of the same period is less than those of different periods. When we finished, there was some time left over, so I assisted with some pre-calculus homework, which covered operations in the complex plane, including transitioning between rectangular and polar coordinates with complex numbers."
