Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the student's assignment and she worked through the concepts for process improvement and quality control. We also worked through an example in detail using a statistics software tool."
"The student and I covered a variety of topics. We went over many statistics vocabulary words and solidified her understanding of most of them. We covered how to use some of Excel's tools to perform statistical analysis. Finally, we touched briefly on Z-scores, standard normal distributions, the Empirical Rule, and how to use z-score probability tables."
"Today, I helped the student format her homework assignment for the week. She had to make a frequency distribution and plot the data into a histogram. I taught her how to calculate class width and showed her how to order data into her classes. We finished by calculating the class boundaries. We spent a lot of time ordering the data, and I told her that if she spends the time doing it it'll make calculating the frequencies of each class much easier (and there will be less room for mistakes)."
"We covered graphing scatter plots and trend lines, calculating standard deviation and the correlation coefficient, and using regression to estimate things. He also completed his homework and additional textbook problems. The next session was planned to study for the upcoming midterm."
"We covered a homework assignment that was related to correlation and regression. It involved using a statistical program specific to the student's textbook. The student's attitude is generally positive."
"For this meeting, we worked on the standard normal Z curve. We calculated the area of the curve to the left and right of different Z scores. Also, we worked on how to get an approximate idea of what the area will be as a way to test calculations."
