Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started reviewing for their exam on Friday, starting with working through a new topic they learned yesterday - changing dimensions. The girls did their assigned worksheet on their own, mostly with guidance from me when it came to understanding the problems conceptually. We then spent the rest of the session going over tax, tip and discount problems. Next session, we will continue reviewing for the exam by working through the teacher-assigned review sheets on transformations."
"Reviewed properties of tangents and inscribed angles. Practiced applying those properties. The student was unfamiliar with the properties, so he needed a lot of help using them."
"The student needed help making up her math work and had a series of lessons I reviewed with her. This was in her math workbook. The concepts were dealing with geometric congruence, transformations, translations, reflections and rotations. We covered 4 different lessons with examples and practice problems. She had some confusion in understanding transformations and needed added instruction. I suggested she draw the shape and then move to help her visualize the rotations. I left her with some practice websites for her to review. I did not see any scores or grades in her workbook. I felt the session went well for our first time, and we accomplished allot in 1 1/2 hours. She was focused and did a good job in the session and is determined to get her grade up."
"We worked on studying for the student's math test that is tomorrow. We worked on pairs of angles, angles and parallel lines, triangles and quadrilaterals and angles and polygons. We worked on the different types of triangles and the different types of angles that triangles can have."
"Today, we reviewed the student's homework. We went over the distributive property, multiplication rules, and combining like terms. He is showing progress in his math as he received a 20/20 on his last math quiz and has now improved his grade to an A- in the course."
"In this session, the student and I started by working on her paragraph for history class, because she needed help on that. She did a great job crafting a rough draft! Then, we reviewed her test and did test corrections. Overall, she did awesome work. Her test showed no big lapses in understanding of the content. We will continue to practice and review these building blocks concepts. She seems in good spirits about the test-- and for a good reason!"
