Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I went over drawing shapes onto the screen and also used functions. We practiced making an alien and then went into deeper discussion about how functions work and what they do inside the program. She is doing a great job. She is understanding it very well and just needs to keep practicing to get it right. This is a hard topic and is a lot to take in for beginners, so difficulty is expected. Even with the difficulty of the material, she is learning it at a very great rate and just needs to practice it in order to get it down."
"The beginning of today's session was a review of our previous work, then we began working on OpenOffice's spreadsheet software. We learned how to create, edit, and format spreadsheets, mostly focusing on the formatting aspect. The student grasps concepts very well but is still a bit hesitant when it comes to the actual execution of an action. We will continue to work on that."
"We covered creating file folders, organizing emails into those folders, typing skills, and learning how to use simple tasks on Excel. The student's attitude was mainly positive and hopeful, which is important for progress. I gave her a website where she could practice her typing skills whenever she would like. I think this session went very well, especially for the first session."
"The student and I discussed her needs and what the plan is. On Thursday we will install QuickBooks and set it up. She will bring the charger for her iPhone with her to the office on Thursday. We will also set up the iPhone. There are a number of projects to do to set her up for a more efficient workflow."
"Today, the student and I practiced using the Windows operating system. I introduced her to the general user interface of the software today, including the start menu, exploring files, the notification area, as well as Cortana. She seems very eager to learn this operating system and followed along very well today."
"The student worked on his C# program today for chapter 22. This program was about storing books and their authors in a database and then displaying that database in different ways. We then also worked some on his C++ project about converting linked lists to circular linked lists. He said he also just took his midterm last week and did pretty well on it."
