Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is doing well but he gets confused sometimes with parenthesis and powers in equations, so we are working on following every step to solve a problem rather than skipping them. I think he just needs more practice on solving equations and he should be fine. We will continue to work on that."
"We reviewed a quiz that gave the student a 64/68 grade, and we discussed some tips on how to break down elementary calculations in multiple steps (e.g. 72 - 38 = 72 - 30 - 8) when doing them mentally. Then, we started off with a new topic, inverse functions. I gave him multiple views and interpretation of an inverse function and some new chapter section assignments."
"The student and I went over chemistry. She's still working on the gas laws. We also went over math a little bit in the first session. She is working on probability."
"The student and I worked on comparing fractions by making the denominator the same number. She did an excellent job with this activity. We also discussed comparing fractions on a number line and using a visual model."
"We worked on quadratic equations- graphing them and finding the axis of symmetry, the coordinates of the vertex, the max (min) values, the domain and range, and finding the equation of a parabola given the directrix and the focus."
"The student and I prepared for his test by reviewing a few compositing functions problems, adding and subtracting functions, factoring, and finding the inverse of two functions. We also reviewed the notes from the last six weeks, and I had him explain key steps that were taken in each example."
