Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Introductions. Focused on double object pronouns (using direct and indirect object pronouns together). Worked through practice handout. The student has a good grasp of how to use these pronouns together."
"The student wanted to spend this session reviewing the material that has been covered so far in the course. She is hoping to earn an A on the final exam, so we focused today's work on vocabulary and verb recall. We used flash cards to replicate a practice that her teacher does in class to check for understanding. In this practice, I gave oral clues in Spanish (in complete sentences), and she guessed the correct vocabulary word or verb that corresponded to the clues. At times, to add variety and challenge to the process, I asked her questions in Spanish to engage her orally in conversation, and she responded with answers in Spanish. I taught her some common phrases for Spanish conversation and we practiced those. She was curious and enthusiastic about learning them. Cooking is a hobby, and many of her vocabulary words were food oriented, so I taught her some related vocabulary about the kitchen and cooking utensils. We reviewed, practiced and quizzed the material. She's feeling much more confident about her abilities and is learning quickly. Next week we will work with the new material that will be presented this week, most likely the imperfect tense and how to use it with the preterite."
"On Saturday, we went over a number of topics in Spanish including conjugating verbs, preterit tenses, and vocabulary. Aside from Spanish, we worked on writing and critical analysis regarding the student's readings in "The Odyssey"."
