Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's lesson with the student, we covered the Spanish-American War, American imperialism and World War I. I had him do readings, and I checked his comprehension and synthesized the material. I then had him answer multiple-choice questions and tested his recall of vocabulary, both from last week's lesson and today's."
"Today the student and I reviewed the new material for the era of the 1920's. This is a fairly dense section so I was glad I was able to clear up some misunderstandings she had about the content. This chapter is highly conducive to topic grouping and organization, and we began going over how to use this strategy to more coherently organize essays (it seems her teacher is preparing the class for an impending essay assignment, showing them how to use facts to create a compelling historical argument.)"
"The student has a test tomorrow on the Progressive Era and Imperialism. Since she has a good understanding of the former, we focused most of our time on the latter. We discussed in detail the many events associated with American Imperialism between 1877 and 1914. We also spent some time discussing Presidents McKinley, (T.) Roosevelt, Taft and Wilson (up to 1914). She had some confusion about the Spanish American War, but we were able to clear that up for her. There were no concerns from this session."
