Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I were continuing on a worksheet on angle relationships in triangles. We started looking at it during our last session, so I thought I would go over the section again with him. There was nothing new he had from school, so we went ahead in doing exercises from sections on congruent triangles. He was picking the material up pretty well as of now and advised him to study more on the sections for additional practice. Also, he appears to be picking his grades up in class, including getting a B on his last test. I have no other concerns from this session."
"This was my initial tutorial with this student. We worked through a review for a test he was taking on Thursday. The review covered congruent triangles, including determining the justification for congruency between two triangles, as well as a small amount of proof work. He has a good overall grasp on the material presented in this unit - we were able to work through the entire review with good efficiency. The only errors he made were mainly small arithmetic mistakes, but these were few in number. He did state that the proofs were difficult for him, which is common among geometry students."
"We went over the chapter to review for her upcoming test. I explained a few concepts to her which she grasped quickly. We went over similar triangles. Showing similarity by sss and AAA. We also went over a few questions she had."
"We went over finding the areas of polygons and the volumes of prisms. The student seemed to be struggling with order of operations and knowing when to use which formula. When we ended the session she said she felt more confident. She has a test in 2 days, so I left her with some things to review with her teacher."
"The student had homework on probability. He worked on the assigned problems as well as on extra problems from his text book. He did well on those problems. My suggestion for him would be completing each homework to improve his grade."
"Today, we focused on reviewing for the Algebra assessment exam. I am very excited by the progress the student has been making. She was showing great improvement in her confidence and comprehension of the material today. She definitely needs to continue practicing, but she should feel encouraged by her progress. If she is able to find time, I highly encourage completing the practice test I sent on her own. It will still be difficult for her, but again, the best way to learn/retain math material is to struggle through problems on your own."
