Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I had my first session with the student today. First, I did a little interview in Chinese to see what he knows and what his level is. He was pretty advanced having taken a semester of Chinese in the distant past. I went through numbers, dates, time and basic daily conversations as well as some basic writings of characters, and he remembered most of it. We also went through pinyin. After that, we had our Chinese immersion conversation about hobbies and work."
"Today we had a great session. He asked me to translate about 20 sentences into Chinese. He tried to translate them himself first to me, and let me correct him if I needed to. This went very well. He is making a lot of progress by studying after classes. He was able to translate most of the sentences to a point that I could understand him. Then we talked about plans for next week in Chinese."
"In today's session, we learned breakfast, lunch, dinner and 11 different foods the students normally eat for their breakfast (cereal, waffle, bacon, hot dog, sausage, orange juice, apple juice, pizza, coffee, bread, and sandwich). They were very interested in today's topic. They remembered all the words by the end of our session. They had a hard time to pronounce hot dog, but finally they got it right."
