The student and I went over her current study and note taking strategies as well as the methods in which she is assessed in class. She struggles most with French, Algebra 2, and Chemistry. We also set a few study goals for her to complete before our next session.

Today, we went over the rest of the sentence completion section we were doing, including going over all of the words the student didn't know and having her make word links/associations to them. We then focused on math, doing a timed multiple choice and grid in section. On the multiple choice section, she got a raw score of 7.5/10. On the grid in, she got a raw score of 7/10. Solid work! We finished by having her go over, yet again, many of the new words she's been learning from the sentence completion sections.

Tutoring review by Devin in Norwich, CT
We reviewed the student's homework from Chapter two. Both sections focused on solving for variables. The second homework set had absolute value. She understood both sections. She thinks her next quiz will be next Thursday. I'll be meeting with her next Wednesday and we will do more practice problems.

The student's teacher revised the class calendar, and although she was going to be caught up by the middle of this week, she is still one unit behind. Not to worry though; we have a plan and she will be caught up by early January. Today, we completed units 7.02 and 7.03. She'll attempt 7.04-7.08 for homework.

Tutoring review by Jeremiah in Norwich, CT
The student and I worked on the pre-algebra section of the SAT book we are working in. We went over problems together and I assessed where she was and showed her how to solve the problems she did not know how to do. After the session, I asked her to complete at least the entire math portion of one of the first practice test in the back of the book, if not the whole test, so as to be able to more fully assess where she is. During the next session, we will see how well she did and will come up with a customized plan for moving forward.

Tutoring review by Saberi in Norwich, CT
Today's session was a continuation of scales and proportions - but with something new. This time we were working with triangles and determining if they're similar/ which ones are. The student zoomed through most of the problems extremely quickly - I'm also very glad to say that he attempted his homework assignment before we met! Great motivation and effort! We did hit a bit of a "speed bump" with the last few problems. These were graphical representations that required using formulas and concepts from last semester. We approached the problems two different ways - each way using different concepts. He seemed to be at the beginning of understanding it, so I've suggested he do the next problem that is very similar and try out both of the ways we went over as extra practice. We will most definitely be touching base with this problem again.
